Learning about { Lunar New Year ) Disneyland

Preschool homeschool field trip 🚗 . I wanted to take a lesson trip to Disneyland because they are celebrating lunar new year “ the year of the dog “ . What a fun way to teach different culture celebrations  to Amirah . 

                               “ The year of the dog “

2018 is a Year of the Dog. In Chinese astrology, each year is related to a Chinese zodiac animal according to the 12-year cycle. 2018 is an Earth Dog Year.

Years of the Dog include 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, and 2030... The Dog occupies the eleventh position in the Chinese zodiac, after the Rooster, and before the Pig.

If you're born in a Dog year, you're a Dog, and the following are deemed lucky for you:

• Lucky numbers: 3, 4, 9
• Lucky colors: red, green, and purple
• Lucky flowers: rose, cymbidium orchids

We started our learning adventure in the lunar area in California Adventure 

 we catch the 12 o’clock show “ Mulan’s Lunar New Year possession”

We made our way for a magical march honoring the Lunar New Year, family and friendship. Beloved Characters Mulan and Mushu welcome all to witness a spellbinding spectacle for the senses!

Amirah clapped along as triumphant music from Disney's Mulanfilled the air and a sea of performers flow gracefully through the streets, spreading smiles in their wake.

After the possession, we headed to the arts and crafts area . California adventure is offering free activities and face painting for the kids 

Complimentary lamp making . What a fun way to learn about lunar new year . 

Also Aliza joined in the fun coloring her own lamp 

Next to the coloring area , talented artists writing your name in Japanese and including your month animal . 

Amirah month Animal is a horse , but of course she had add a special detail horse a “unicorn “ . 

Once done making arts and crafts we headed to the complimentary face painting, I think that was Amirahs favorite activity. 

She had to pick  what she wanted and to my surprise she wanted flowers 🌸 

 

 She wanted to match her outfit 

 As our lunar new year adventure came to a end we did one more fun activity . 

The wish wall , write down your wish for the new year 

Of course Amirah had so many wishes

  

              Amirah enjoyed a delicious cotton candy ,

    

And share some ohhhhhhssss while the balloons blew across the wind
